As I singing teacher and a singer myself I am always looking for new, innovative ways to warm up the voice easily and to develop a better singing technique. The voice can be used for limited time (2 to 3 hours) and it is not recommended to practice for hours till the voice is totally exhausted. Vocal fatigue at the end of your singing session is not your "best friend".
One day I was scrolling over Instagram's story and my attention was caught by one live stream of Julie Fuchs. If you don't know who she is, definitely check her out. She won 2nd prize in "Operalia" in 2013.
She was speaking in French and showing some straw exercises, I didn't understand a word (French is not my strong point, I am working on it) and I asked her to translate the video if possible. She made a special one in English where she explained how she warms up every day with a straw before vocalising. I knew about warming up with a straw in a glass of water, but never seen a method like this. I decided to give it a go for a couple of day and reach a verdict. I was blown away on my second day of practice when the voice was so ready to do technical exercises that this is now part of my daily warmup routine.
I tried to reuse a plastic one in order to be environment friendly and not using a new one every single time, but it became impossible, so I started looking for metal ones. I found this amazing website where you can purchase specially made metal straws for vocalists. I bought their Sing Ring, because I wanted to experiment with the different resistance levels this tool offers. I loved it so much and decided to ask to become their Ambassador. I would never do this, if I am not sure about the product. So here it is! You can use the code #SINGBETTER and get 10% discount on your order.
